Motherwort is a member of the mint family that earned its common name because it was once a favorite herb among midwives because of its long association with promoting the onset of labor. Other common names for motherwort are Lions Tail, lion’s ear, and throwwort.

**Do not use during pregnancy. Due to the presence of cardiac alkaloids, do not use this herb internally without medical supervision if you have a heart condition or take pharmaceutical medications to control blood pressure.
