Saint John’s Wort, so-called because it is traditionally harvested on St. John’s Day, is a striking perennial herb indigenous to Europe. St. John’s Wort herb has a wonderful warm, dry, herbaceous aroma and when the flower or leaves are pinched it releases a red oil that is often used to aid in wound healing and reducing scaring.

**Because this herb is known to reduce the effectiveness of a number of medications, consult your physician before using St. John’s wort. Do not use in conjunction with benzodiazepines or other psychotropic medications.
